Dear TTR friends,
I’m taking a moment to write a few lines inviting you to some of our upcoming events and to let you know, if you haven’t heard already, about some great news from our editors and contributors.
We’ll be at the upcoming Association of Writers & Writing Programs in Washington D. C., February 2-5. If you’re attending, be sure to drop by our table, G28, to say “hi.” We’ll be offering special discounts of previous issues and pre-order discounts of our 2011 issue, due out May 1.
Our 2011 journal promises to be our best yet and will feature poetry by Robin Carstensen, Weston Cutter, Mark Halliday, Matt Hart, Bob Hicok, J.T. Ledbetter, Alex Lemon, Ada Limón, Keith Montesano, Gina Myers, Steve Orlen, Charlotte Pence, Nate Pritts, José Antonio Rodríguez, Christine Tierney, and Karen Weyant; nonfiction by Jenny Dunning, Kara Garbe, Shannon Lakanen, Karl S. Monroe, Eric Tanyavutti, Janet Yoder; and fiction by Robert Glick. And there are many other names to come.
If you haven’t already sent us a fiction contest entry, don’t forget our March 15 deadline. We’re excited that the great Aimee Bender is serving as this year’s final judge.
On March 22, poet John Hoppenthaler will read at Tusculum. If you’re in the area, we’d love for you to stop by. John’s reading is free and open to the public.
Our April 19 TTR 2011 launch party at Tusculum is also free and open to the public. This event will feature TTR Contributing Editor Kirsten Beachy and other readers TBA.
Speaking of Beachy, Tongue Screws and Testimonies: Poems, Stories, and Essays Inspired by the Martyrs Mirror, which she edited, is now out. Tongue Screws and Testimonies is wonderful read and features some work that originally appeared in TTR.
Clay Matthews, our very own poetry editor, has a new book of sonnets out from Cooper Dillon Books. Pretty, Rooster is pretty fantastic, so do yourself a favor and order a copy.
We’ve got a slew of contributor news. Jessica Baran’s Remains to Be Used is now available for preorder from former TTR Editor Richard Greenfield’s press, Apostrophe Books. Adam Day won the 2010 PSA National Chapbook Fellowship, judged by James Tate, for Badger, Apocrypha. Jennifer Denrow’s won an NEA grant for poetry, and she’s got a collection, California, forthcoming from Four Way Books. Melinda Moustakis has won the Flannery O’Connor award and the UC Davis Maurice Prize in Fiction for Bear Down, Bear North.
